Content is everywhere. Launch your Web browser, open your inbox, or turn on your cell phone and there it is…more and more content! This growing “content crisis” is a direct and potent threat to the traditional association business model. So how can your organization help its members deal with this new challenge and, quite possibly, change its future in the process?
In this session, two of the association community’s leading thinkers about learning and innovation will explore the emergence of “the digital curator,” a critical new role played by individuals or organizations trying to turn the flood of content into a reservoir of new possibilities. Digital curators identify and filter the most useful and meaningful content, situate it in a relevant context and present it in a coherent and actionable way. Could this role be right for you and your organization? Join us for a closer look at what’s next to find out the answer!
This session will explore the following critical learning questions:
-
Why is digital curation an important strategic concept for associations?
-
What are the characteristics of the digital curator and what are some successful examples?
-
What are the opportunities that digital curation creates for your association, and what are the potential challenges?
Date & Time: Tuesday, December 9th from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST.
Fees: $49
Speakers: Jeff De Cagna, Chief Strategist, Principled Innovation
Jeff Cobb, Learning 2.0 Specialist
-
4 techniques to use in all communication with stakeholders.
-
3 strategies to keep audiences tuned in.
-
Heck’s 3-D Sound Bite System to develop your own memorable quotes.

Lake County Convention Visitor’s Association gets an update!
Lake County CVB Changes Name
South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is introduced
Hammond, IN – The Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors legally established, in Resolution No.: 2008-10-28, that the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is the Bureau’s official DBA (Doing Business As) name.
According to the Resolution the LCCVB is the “…only convention and visitors bureau in Northwest Indiana to actively and comprehensively generate enough business to necessitate marketing the three county shoreline region.” The Resolution also states that, “…travel consumers to Indiana do no make tourism travel decisions based on county name.”
The South Shore brand is reflective of the area from Chicago to New Buffalo, Michigan and is the geographic region the CVB markets to visitors and meeting and event planners. The Resolution states, “…the Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau has long advocated a customer driven, research supported, comprehensive branding approach to its marketing.”
The label South Shore stands as a nationally recognized term reinforced by the South Shore Line Railroad that runs from South Bend to Chicago and the popular South Shore Line Poster Series; both have existed for nearly century. Many other organizations in Northwest Indiana have adopted the brand “South Shore” in their name or tag line including the South Shore Arts, Shore Magazine, WIMS Radio and the Times newspaper.
The Authority’s website has changed to www.southshorecva.com. The SSCVA’s executive offices are located at 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond inside the Indiana Welcome Center.
