This event is a must for anyone who is dealing with change in their organization - in other words, EVERYONE.  Gary Bolinger will familiarize you with characteristics of "change" in the world we live in today and give you practical tips for effectively managing change.  Gary was one of ISAE Convention's highest rated speakers.  You won't want to miss this presentation.

Gary Bolinger is a Certified Association Executive and Immediate Past President of the Indiana Society of Association Executives. He serves as the President and CEO of the Indiana CPA Society (INCPAS) where he started his association career 24 years ago. In addition to his duties with INCPAS, Gary is a 1989 graduate of the Institutes for Organization Management, going on to serve as chair of the Board of Regents for the University of Notre Dame Institute in 1995. What many association professionals may not know is that while the nonprofit sector has grown faster than the overall U.S. economy since 1994 the industry as a whole is facing some difficult times. When it comes to recruitment and retention of employees ranging from front level workers to top level executives the industry seems to be in a drought.  While this seems like a scary phenomenon, there is a little light at the end of the tunnel.  The study by John Hopkins Nonprofit Listening Post Project in 2007 found that the sector was faced with numerous challenges, but that organizations are addressing these challenges successfully.  The following were among the John Hopkins study findings:

  • 90% of organizations reported adding at least one new employee during the previous year; 80% experienced at least one staff departure.

  • 87% of the organizations agreed "somewhat" or "strongly" that "an inability to offer competitive salaries" is a major difficulty in recruiting.

  • An overwhelming 86% of organizations reported that they are satisfied with the qualifications of the employees they have recruited.
