Congratulations to the vast majority of ISAE members that have already renewed their membership for 2007. Thank you for renewing your investment in ISAE!

If you just received another dues notice let us help you in two ways. First, give us a call at 317-328-4569 to save time by paying your dues with a credit card. One call and an important "TO DO" is off your list this week. Second, just to remind you, here are 10 reasons why YOU should continue to invest in ISAE:

1. Find SOLUTIONS
Luncheons and workshops bring association professionals together to network, to learn from each other and to be inspired by what's new in the field.

2. Work SMARTER
ISAE membership can give you a running start on any new project or problem to be solved. Our members have been there, done that, and even have the CD.

3. Refine your SKILLS
Our executive education series and annual conference feature some of the profession's most recognized experts. They'll keep you up-to-date on trends, philosophies and programs.

4. Earn the CAE credential
Peer study groups cover various domains in the CAE exam so you'll be prepared and successful. Keep up that certification by earning continuing education credits from ISAE's convenient programs and seminars in Indiana.

5. ASSOCIATE with the best
The ISAE STAR Awards recognize the best of the best in association programs and individual achievements.

6. Get your skills RECOGNIZED
Help your peers understand a new process by presenting a program on what you've discovered works. Or put your skills to work with ISAE committees and task forces, or write an opinion piece for ISAE publication.

7. GIVE BACK to your profession
Join with colleagues who monitor legislation that affects the conditions and standards under which associations and non-profit organizations operate.

8. Enjoy the CAMRADERIE of professional peers
Maybe you just want to kick-back, de-stress and have some fun with friends. ISAE events provide opportunities for doing just that.

9. DISCOVER what suits you
Whatever your needs, there's something here for you: on-line learning, small group idea sharing, programs featuring the profession's most recognized experts, electronic communication that is timely and informative

10. SAVE time & money
ISAE is a centralized source of information that may save you time in searching for answers to certain questions. And the new TelSpan affinity program will save you money on audio and web conferencing.

If you know someone who is not a current member of ISAE, tell them about us! As always, membership applications are available on our website at http://www.isae.org/.

Are you interested in becoming a Certified Association Executive (CAE)? If so, the next test date is Friday, May 4, 2007. The deadline to submit an application for the exam is quickly approaching. You must have your application in by Friday, February 9, 2007. You may extend the deadline, with an additional fee of $100, to Friday, March 9, 2007. The exam fee is $500 for ASAE members and $700 for non-members.

Why should you become certified? ASAE answers this question on their website as follows:

Becoming a Certified Association Executive shows your commitment to the association profession. As a CAE you commit yourself to lifelong learning and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge in the profession. Among association leaders, the CAE designation has become known and appreciated as a mark of distinction that offers a wide range of benefits.Individuals pursue the CAE for a variety of reasons, including professional development, career planning and professional pride, dedication to their career, a personal belief in the association profession, and self-fulfillment.

Be sure to let ISAE staff know if you are sitting for the exam. For those interested, we provide study sessions and mentors closer to the exam date.

Join ISAE members Robin Brown, CAE; Kevin Mayeux, CAE; Scott Wiley, CAE and Leslie Murphy, CAE at ASAE's annual Legislative Fly-in on March 21-22, 2007. For those of you unfamiliar with the Fly-in, association executives from around the country gather in Washington, D.C. to learn about the best grassroots practices and meet with members of Congress to educate everyone on the value of associations to society. This year, conversations on associations' contributions to society through charitable work and the economic benefits of association conventions and meetings will take place. In order to have representatives from each state, there are scholarships available through ASAE. If you would like more information or are ready to apply, please contact Robert Hay at rhay@asaecenter.org. The scholarships make the event free and your transportation and lodging costs could be subsidized by up to $300.

You should receive your copy of the 2007 ISAE professional development schedule via U.S. Mail in the next few weeks. To view it electronically, please click on the link. This information is available online at http://www.isae.org/ISAE_Edu_Prog_Broch.pdf.

This year, the Professional Development Task Force agreed on the importance of focusing on the ASAE's Job Analysis results as the basis for ISAE education initiatives. The analysis included a survey of hundreds of association professionals on the scope of their work. The results changed the CAE exam to ten domains of knowledge including: Strategic Management; Planning and Research; Leadership; Administration; Knowledge Management; Governance and Structure; Public Policy and Government and External Relations; Membership; Programs, Products and Services; and Public Relations and External Communications. Each of ISAE's programs for 2007 fit within one of these domains. More than 40 CAE hours can be obtained through ISAE programs this year. These hours can be used when applying for or renewing the CAE designation. In addition, programs have been aligned with levels of experience: Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced. This will allow our members to decide if the program is designed for them or what additional staff could benefit.

New for 2007 - Discounted rates are also available if you purchase a "ticket" to all of the luncheons prior to February 23. Please click on the following link to proceed in registering.
