Get Connected to Indianapolis

Indianapolis the 13th largest city in the U.S. has been growing even in the midst of the economic slump. With as many as five to six major tourism products at any one time in the works over the recent years, Indianapolis will emerge as a force to be reckoned with. In an economic time when most cities have halted construction Indianapolis will invest more than $3 million when all is done to enhance the city’s overall tourism products.

The city of Indianapolis has a number of great features that keep meeting planners and organizations coming back. The additional meeting space, sporting facilities and hotel rooms will only ad to features such as:

  • Affordability of the city
  • 4,700 hotel rooms connected through a climate-controlled skywalk system
  • 200+ restaurants
  • 50 museums

As of February 2011, Indianapolis will complete the final phase of launching the “new” Indianapolis. If you haven’t taken an interest in what our capital city has to offer now is time to familiarize yourself with all that it could offer your association or meeting.

ASA Webinar: You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet: Three Essential Steps to Becoming Indispensable in Your Organization

Nothing forces a re-examination of assumptions and personal behavior patterns like an economic crisis. If a strategy of muddling through while others lose their jobs seems naive and risky, join us for a candid and illuminating discussion of how perceiving yourself and others in new ways can lead to success that you never thought possible.

When jobs are on the line every day, how we are perceived at work can make the difference between continued employment and personal downsizing. Clearly, people who exhibit critical leadership traits will thrive well beyond those who do not. People who lead others to contribute more effectively will hold a valuable edge over those who fail this challenge.

In this webinar, participants will

  • discover how to use two powerful tools to bring about a perceptive shift in both themselves and others
  • learn why so-called “personality conflicts” can have little to do with personality and a lot to do with the different types of “energy” each person brings to the work place
  • gain insight into the most important leadership traits uncovered by one of the premier leadership development organizations in the world
  • understand three steps that can make themselves indispensable in their organizations

The webinar leader is Dennis Pescitelli of NewInsight Associates. Dennis is a certified coach with over 20 years of executive experience and has designed and managed a successful leadership development program for the Illinois Society of Association Executives over the last five years. Participants in Dennis’s past engagements have reported amazing shifts in their ability to lead teams and work productively with others.

Need a Quick Fix?

Got a minute? Want to improve governance and management? Here are 15 quick fixes to key processes.

1. D & O Policy – Pull out the Directors and Officers liability insurance policy; make a copy and send it to an attorney for an opinion. Does the policy your cover current activities and structure? An attorney may be willing to review the policy knowing that that he or she may rely on the coverage in a legal case.

2. Employee Manual – Check your employee manual to see if it includes a “whistle blower clause.” In response to the policy questions on IRS Form 990, your board probably adopted a policy. Has it been transcribed into the employee manual so staff is aware of its existence?
