FLIP THE SCRIPT: How to grow your membership with a story worth telling

We agree - your association delivers tremendous value to your members. Is the rest of the world aware of this? Or, is your message getting lost in translation? Marketing is changing for member-based organizations. Simply talking about your benefits is no longer enough to draw and keep members. It’s time to revisit the underlying proposition of your brand message. Does it genuinely engage, inspire and motivate members to make a long-term commitment to your organization?

Brand Strategist, Garrett Curry, will explore emerging trends in membership recruitment and retention by sharing what it takes to 1) enter into the story of your member 2) appeal to what is really at stake for them and 3) speak a language that provokes them to action.

Attendees will:

  • Recognize common communication mistakes that keep your association invisible
  • Ensure your association’s brand message is clear, concise and meaningful to the member (not just your board and staff).
  • Walk away with a story-driven framework that will attract, retain and engage members.

Join us for this thought-provoking event and enjoy the unique venue that is the Biltwell Event Center. Built in 1922, the Biltwell Event Center is a former manufacturer turned event venue. With original hardwood floors, exposed brick, and saw tooth windows, the building holds it original rustic character, while maintaining modern comfort and amenities. Located just minutes from downtown Indianapolis, a gorgeous view of the city can be seen from the second floor!

Be sure to stick around after the event as we'll head over to the Round Town Brewery for an informal networking event.

About Garrett Curry

As a kid, Garrett nagged his mother on a daily basis to draw superheroes for him while he watched over her shoulder. That pretty  much cinched his future as a creative professional. At his core, and throughout his career, Garrett has always been a designer. He also spent 20 years as a campus minister, counseling and speaking to college students across the country. Eventually his pastoral super-powers tapered off and he became a mere mortal, landing a gig as the Art Director for a non-profit idea accelerator. There, he designed and consulted for several social initiatives. These initiatives addressed issues, such as human trafficking, food insecurity, pediatric prosthetics, poverty and literacy. His design work and initiatives have been featured several times in HOW Magazine.

In 2013, Garrett founded his own brand consultancy and design studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. Today, Raygun Workshop helps business play a bigger game by speaking the language of their customers. Drawing from his unique background, Garrett is very cognizant of the human element of design, cultivating a more meaningful exchange between people and brands. His studio primarily focuses on brand development, design, messaging, corporate naming and web strategy.
